Kali Daal - Lentils


Yields 2.5 cups

Kali Daal is one of our favorites despite its misnomer of a name. You see kaali means black, but this daal is decidedly brown.  Black or brown, we love its bold heartiness, its comforting warmth, and its bountiful nutrition.   Daal (lentils), roti (whole wheat bread) and a green chili pepper are what make up both the simplest of Indian meals and the most universally loved. 

Ingredients: Lentils, AvocadoOil, GrassFedGhee, Spices  & Salt

Instructions: Package includes one sachet of spiced lentils. TIP:  Cutting packet on two/three sides will facilitate moving it's contents into the IP  

  1. Add contents of the packet and 2 ½ cups water
  2. SEAL and cook on HIGH PRESSURE for 18 minutes.
  3. Once done, let rest for 10 minutes, then VENT to release remaining pressure.
  4. Open lid and give it a good stir, CANCEL to turn off & Enjoy!

Garnish Tips: cilantro, onions slices & lemon wedge   Serve with: Rice or Indian Flatbread  Leftover Reheating Tips: As legumes thicken over time, add boiling water to desired consistency.
